Week 7-Chapter 7: Good Riddance

This week went pretty well; exercise and eating right was a success. I didn’t do my usual yoga sessions, but I did complete a full body workout at my gym. The class was an hour long, and consisted of intense core work that really pushed me to my limits. I haven’t done a workout such as this in over a year; I took a year off from these kinds of classes. Although my goal is to mainly do yoga, I think I also want to mix in some high intense classes to become more trim. I also found out that cauliflower is a great substitute for mashed potatoes; for those who love potatoes. In relation to this week’s reading, I honestly could relate to a lot of the topics discussed. Addiction’s can come in a variety of forms and mine used to be alcohol. I have since continued with my abstinence, but I never knew how volatile this substance really was. This includes brain shrinkage, damage to the CNS, and lowering a person’s intellectuality. I’m so happy to have rid myself of such a substance that can cause that much harm. It also helps with my mood since alcohol is a depressant in itself. I also find it useful to use mindfulness techniques to help with relapse prevention. Just taking a moment to assess the situation you’re in and knowing one’s current feelings really helps. All I have to say is good riddance!
